Mr. Shapiro hails from a family of renowned medical doctors. His father was the chairman of Radiology at one of Yale University’s teaching hospitals, where Mr. Shapiro acted as a research assistant to his father in preparing research for articles, books, and other publications concerning the brain, spinal cord, and the nerves that supply vision to the brain. He brings specialized knowledge in the preparation and litigation of ROP cases. He has been the recipient of many awards and accolades by his peers. Mr. Shapiro has been the President of The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, President of the Southern Trial Lawyers’ Association. He served on the Board of Governors for the Association of Trial Lawyers of America for many years. He has numerous verdicts, including a verdict well in excess of $10 million dollars for a blind, quadriplegic girl, Jessica R. Jessica’s case began the quest for Mr. Shapiro to begin helping the children whose voices must be heard and holding accountable those in healthcare that failed to properly care for them.
